windows-first-start

Windows is terrible, but if you seriously HAVE TO use windows, use a VM and follow this guide, to make it a little bit better:

  • Installer: Disable account requirement

    • Shift + F10
    • reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OOBE /v BypassNRO /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
    • shutdown /r /t 0
    • Shift + F10
    • ipconfig /release
    • Continue
    • Win + R -> cmd -> ipconfig /renew

  • Go Edge & install firefox

    • Set as default browser
    • Add to taskbar

  • Run setup.reg & reboot (apparently for wallpaper

  • Disable animations in windows settings

  • Taskbar

    • Right click, Taskbar settings
      • Disable Search, Task view & Widgets
      • Taskbar behaviors -> Move to left
    • Remove Copilot, Edge, Software center

  • (For VM) Install spice-guest-tools (https://www.spice-space.org/download.html)

    • Reboot
    • Auto resize VM with Window
